Staff Accountant
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The Staff Accountant at plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the company. This position involves preparing and reconciling financial data, assisting with month-end and year-end closings, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic construction/service industry environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain an accurate general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Monitor and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to ensure timely and accurate payment and collection.
- Review job cost reports and assist with project financial tracking.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for audits and tax filings.
- Assist with sales and use tax reporting and compliance.
- Support payroll journal entry posting and ensure proper labor cost allocations (if applicable).
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure proper coding of expenses and accurate reporting.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives within the accounting department.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
– 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred; experience in the construction or service industry is a plus.
-Proficiency in service industry based software is preferred
– Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required; Service Titan/ERP systems preferred. familiarity with job cost accounting systems is preferred.
– Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.
– Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
– Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
– High level of integrity in handling confidential information
– Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
– Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
– Office environment with standard business hours (Monday–Friday).
– Occasional extended hours during peak financial periods (month-end/year-end close).
