Electrical & Alarm Technician

The Electrical and Alarm Technician is responsible for managing a variety of electrical and alarm system installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance projects. This role ensures that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable local, state, and national codes and regulations. The technician will also provide leadership, training, and mentoring to assigned staff while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and safety.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

1.     Manage and oversee multiple electrical and alarm projects, ensuring completion within established budgets and timelines.

2.     Read, interpret, and apply electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams for both electrical and alarm systems.

3.     Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of electrical systems (industrial, commercial, residential) and fire alarm or low voltage systems.

4.     Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and alarm systems, including wiring, transformers, circuit boards, and low voltage systems.

5.     Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national electrical codes, including fire and life safety standards.

6.     Represent the company at job site meetings and effectively communicate with contractors, clients, and other trades to ensure the smooth progression of projects.

7.     Provide leadership, supervision, and training to project staff, ensuring effective team performance and safety.

8.     Conduct system testing and inspections, ensuring all systems meet industry standards and client expectations.

9.     Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles (if applicable) in good working order.

10.   Document job costs, materials, and tasks, ensuring compliance with company procedures and proper reporting for all projects.

11.   Perform additional duties as needed, including after-hours support, emergency service calls, and on-call availability when scheduled.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience with electrical systems, including wiring, conduits, breaker panels, transformers, and power distribution.

Minimum of 3 years of experience with fire alarm and/or low voltage electronic systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.

Expertise in reading and interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.

NICET or similar fire and life safety certifications preferred.

Ability to work flexible hours, including after-hours and weekends, to meet customer needs.

Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients and team members.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace for documentation and communication.

Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in confined or elevated spaces (e.g., crawl spaces, ladders, scaffolding, etc.).

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet company driving record requirements.

Additional Skills

Knowledge of life safety codes and fire alarm systems.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve low voltage circuit issues.
